California PI Tracking Down Long-time Ski Instructor

TRUCKEE, Calif. — A private investigator is looking for clues in the mysterious disappearance of a local man and longtime ski instructor who vanished more than a month ago, the Sierra Sun reported earlier this week.
Mikhail “Michael” Kharshan, 55, of Truckee, disappeared Jan. 31 near Boreal Ski Resort, and has not been seen since, officials said.

Kharshan, a long-time ski instructor at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort, intended to hike the area with friends, said Jeff Rogers, a private investigator with Clear Blue Investigations, who was hired by the Kharshan family. After taking a taxi to the Boreal Castle Peak turnoff, Kharshan wasn't seen again. Rogers said suicide is unlikely.

Kharshan was carrying a backpack and snowshoes at the time of his disappearance, Rogers said. He left a note for his wife, Kate, before his disappearance, and law enforcement conducted a search investigation in early February.

Nevada County Sheriff's Office Det. Mike Sullivan of the Major Crimes Unit said the investigation has concluded and there are no current leads.
